FIFA set to commence the pilot phase of the FIFA Series in the upcoming international match window in March 2024. The decision was taken by the FIFA council to introduce the the pilot phase for a significant development within member associations in international football.

The FIFA Series will feature a new initiative in which the world football organization backing its member associations in setting up international friendly matches. In a series four national team to participate, each from a different confederation, with all the games being held in one host nation. The initiative aims to nurture global football unity and provide teams with valuable competitive experience.

“The FIFA Series is a really positive step forward for national-team football at global level,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

“Our member associations have been telling us for a long time now of their desire to test themselves against their counterparts from all around the world, and now they can do so within the current Men’s International Match Calendar. More meaningful matches will enable far more valuable footballing interaction for players, teams and fans, and will make a concrete contribution to the development of the game.” he added.

With this FIFA series initiative, the member associations will get more frequent chances to play against the national teams from other continents. It will also expand interaction for the growth of technological opportunities , previously unavailable to many countries .

The pilot project will run from 18 to 26 March 2024, before a full roll-out in March 2026.
