East Bengal FC makes it to the Kalinga Super Cup 2024 final after they beats Jamshedpur FC in the first semi-final at the Kalinga Stadium on Wednesday 24th January. Hijazi Maher and Javier Siverio nets the goals for The Kolkata giant.

The Red and Gold brigade started strong and created multiple chances within the first quarter. It was Hijazi Maher  who gives East Bengal FC the deserving lead in the 19th minute. Cleiton Silva delivered a pinpoint corner that Saul Crespo set it up for Hijazi Maher, who successfully send the ball into the net.

Jamshedpur FC gets multiple chances to equalise the goal, but Prabhsukhan Gill and the defence deal it well to maintain lead to the break.

The Red and Gold Brigade continued their domination over Jamshedpur FC into the second half. Within a couple of minutes , Siverio doubles the lead in the 47th minute. Nishu Kumar sent a low grounded cross for Siverio who made no mistake to finish it into net from close range.

The Red Miners couldn’t handle the pressure created by the East Bengal FC attackers and they gave away a penalty in the 82nd minute for a careless tackle on Sayan Banerjee. Banerjee displayed exceptional footwork to earn his team the penalty, but East Bengal FC captain Cleiton Silva hits the post and missed the chance to  increase the lead.

Jamshedpur FC tried few attempts in the last couple of minutes, but it was again the East Bengal FC goalkeeper Gill saved it to keep the scoreline 2-0 until the final whistle.

East Bengal FC are set to face the winners of the second semi-final, which will be played between Odisha FC and Mumbai City FC. The final is scheduled for January 28, 2024, at the Kalinga Stadium, at 7:30 PM IST.
